Our Mission
To direct the progress of AI toward the flourishing of the human person.
We believe in AI subsidiarity: the decisions that shape your life should be made with you, not imposed by collective algorithms optimizing for averages. Human flourishing arises when individuals live their own stories.
Personal AI requires two things:
- Facts: your lived history and context
- Values: your vision of a good life
Personal Facts + Personal Values = Personal AI
You and your AI know better than any black-box system what you need to thrive. Society advances when individuals are sovereign over their own growth.
The Company
I’m Adam Jace, founder of Ariata. I believe the highest purpose of technology is to serve human flourishing, or eudaimonia: living in alignment with one’s nature, virtues, and purpose.
Today’s AI betrays this purpose. It profits from predictability: first by becoming smarter, then by making us more predictable.
Ariata exists to build a different foundation: an open-source personal AI owned solely by you. One that learns from your life, honors your values, and advances your growth.
The challenges ahead are immense. But if we succeed, we will reshape the relationship between humanity and intelligence—for the dignity of each person, and for the flourishing of all.
The Present
We live in an age of rising disorder. Attention frays, addictions spread, and the weight of complexity bears down on us all. Technology, promised as our cure, has become an accelerant. AI is not built to guide us through chaos, but to monetize it.
This failure has revealed three crises in the relationship between human beings and machines:
The Problem of Grounding — Truth
AI knows the world, but not the person. It is encyclopedic, yet ungrounded.
The Problem of Axiology — Telos
AI offers answers, but without values. It speaks, but has no compass.
The Problem of Agency — Telemetry
AI studies us not to serve us, but to shape us—smoothing away individuality in favor of predictability.
These crises do not just erode sovereignty. They imperil the very dignity of the human person.
The Possibility
The possibility is simple: an AI that does not replace humanity, but reveals our human nature—so that in knowing ourselves, we may become more of who we want to be.
The Solution
We are building a new architecture for personal AI—one that inverts the current power dynamic. Instead of AI systems that study you to predict and control, we create AI that augments your telos. The three pillars:
- Digital Twin— your facts.
- Value Protocol— your values.
- Sovereign Infrastructure— your ownership.
The Emergence
When context, values, and sovereignty combine, something new emerges: an AI that amplifies your agency rather than erodes it. It doesn’t nudge you toward predictable behaviors. It helps you become who you’re trying to be.
How We Can Do It
Arriving at this future requires a new technical foundation, not in post-training, but at inference-time where AI personalization is most feasible economically.
This future demands a new foundation: AI that personalizes at the moment it acts, respects your sovereignty, and aligns with your life and values.
We will realize it in three phases:
Phase 1: Build the Technical Community
We begin with developers and technologists who understand both the promise and the peril of AI. Together, we construct the open-source infrastructure that makes personal AI possible.
Phase 2: Demonstrate Liberation
We start where the need is greatest—helping those whose agency is most under threat. Early victories will show that AI can amplify freedom, not erode it.
Phase 3: Scale to Everyone
Once proven, we expand. From thousands to millions. From special cases to everyday life. From a movement to a new standard for human-AI coexistence.
